Lionfish are a common fish native to the Indo-Pacific Ocean. However, through release of them from Aquariums, lionfish started to appear in the Caribbean Sea. Without predators, these fish adapted to the new environment quickly. In a short period of time, they had spread out all over the Atlantic Ocean and presented serious concerns to the coral reef ecosystem by eating up all the native reef fishes.

Lionfish have strong venom on their fin rays. Touching these fish can result in serious health consequences.
